MBBS 1975 Royal Free Hospital, FRCS (England) 1979 (elected FRCS Edinburgh in 2002 and FRCPS Glasgow in 2004). MS (University of london) 1984. Appointed Consultant Surgeon to St Mark's Hospital in 1987 and Senior Lecturer to St Bartholomew's Hospital (changing to ICRF and then CRUK in 1993 - 2007) and then TUPE transfer to imperial College in 2007. Professor of Colorectal Surgery, Imperial College, 2001.
