About me

I graduated from St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical School, London and trained in Cardiology at The Royal Postgraduate Medical School/Hammersmith Hospital and at the National Heart Hospital. In 1989 I was appointed to the National Heart and Lung Institute and the Royal Brompton National Heart Hospital. In 1992 I moved to St. George’s Hospital, helping to develop the treatment of heart rhythm problems, and becoming Clinical Director of Cardiology. In January 2008, I moved to become Consultant Cardiologist at University College Hospital.

I am currently Member of the Department of Health Arrhythmia Board and President of Heart Rhythm UK, the professional society for clinical staff involved in delivering treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.
I was Chairman of the Multicentre European Radiofrequency Survey, Past Chairman of the European Society of Cardiology Working Group on Computers in Cardiology and a council member of the British Pacing & Electrophysiology Group. I was co-chair of the expert panel responsible for National Service Framework document on Cardiac Arrhythmias and Sudden Death.
