Professor Murphy qualified at St.Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College, University of London in 1973, and became a Senior Lecturer in Haematology at St.Bartholomew’s Hospital in 1985. In 1996, he moved to Oxford and in 2004 became Professor of Blood Transfusion Medicine.
