I am an experienced Consultant of 35 years standing with a wide Generalist background having trained and practised in all the major medical specialties. I am semi retired but still perform ad hoc NHS locum work in Acute Medicine and Elderly Care where I function mainly as a diagnostician ensuring patients are correctly diagnosed and on the correct and optimal management pathway. For more specialist diagnoses, after diagnosis I refer onwards to the appropriate specialty. I am a 'down to earth Lancastrian' and believe in plain speaking and keeping patients fully informed both verbally and in writing. Being a Generalist I take a holistic approach looking at all factors that could be contributing to a patient's symptoms, especially medication and environmental factors.
In my spare time I like travel and have interests in ornithology, meteorology and play regular Bridge.
