About me

Mr Peter Thompson is Consultant Urological Surgeon to the department of Urology at Kings College Hospital, London. He trained at Kings College Hospital with earlier surgical training in London and the South East. He spent 18 months in South Africa before returning to Kings and the Institute of Urology to complete his urological training. He was originally appointed to Kings College and Dartford Hospitals to become full time and Clinical Lead at Kings. He is also registered Consultant Urological Surgeon in Bermuda.

His clinical interests are all aspects of core urology with particular experience in benign and malignant disease of the prostate, bladder, testes and urinary tract infections. He has considerable experience in managing prostate cancer and benign prostatic disease with green light laser treatment. He has also shown great commitment to teaching and training, having been President of the Urology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine, tutor, programme director and regional advisor to the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Mr Thompson is a frequent guest lecturer giving invited lectures at the Royal Society of Medicine, Universities of Beijing and Peking, the Sri Lankan College of Surgeons, Colombo as well as being founder member and convenor in teaching of open urological surgical techniques at the Royal College of Surgeons.

In 2016 Mr Thompson was appointed Hunterian Professor at the Royal College of Surgeon of England.
