About me

Professor Raine has gained significant experience over the years. Whilst offering general service he does have specialised interests in paediatrics and otological matters. In 1989 he established the supra-regional Yorkshire Cochlear Implant Service to help profoundly deaf children and adults. This has expanded significantly since he has introduced all the other available bone conduction hearing and middle ear implantable devices. The service was renamed The Yorkshire Auditory Implant Service (YAIS) a couple of years ago. Treating of nasal and sinus disease is also an important aspect of his work.
Prof Raine has an active teaching and research commitment.
Professor Raine was awarded MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours 2015 for his work with deaf patients and The Ear Trust Charity.
Over the last few years has been active in working with NHS England on commissioning of specialised hearing implants
